Steep Taper Hydraulic Self-Locking Clamping Systems
The self-limiting clamping system for quick-release taper tools developed by BERG Spanntechnik is used in conjunction with the proven SSK clamping sets. In this solution the wedge drive itself is rigidly connected to the clamping set via a drawbar.
Steep Taper Grippers SKR
The SKR gripper offers the unique capability of holding a tool with low force before the tool is clamped. This means that the spindle can pull away from the tool changer before tool clamping takes place (a key feature when fast tool change time is needed).

SSK gripper are primarily designed for drawing in and ejecting steep taper tooling provided with retention knobs internationally standardized as per DIN, ANSI, MAS, JIS and ISO which allow fast automatic tool changes. SSK grippers are not only suitable for clamping tools, but also workpieces or workpiece holders and pallets on machining centers, milling machines, boring machines, grinding centers, special purpose machines, and handling systems.

Based on the popular SSK design, BERG Spanntechnik SSKE grippers use a common spindle contour for all retention knob standards, greatly simplifying design and production requirements for spindle manufacturers.
