Customer Order Coordinator

There is no such thing as routine for our international customer base and supplier network. Orders can be going from Texas to a manufacturing plant in Korea, from Germany to an aerospace company in Seattle, or from Rockford to a machine builder in Austria. The Customer Order Coordinator keeps track of it all.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Customer Order Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of customer orders. Specific duties include entering orders, coordinating purchasing and production, following up with customers and suppliers, negotiating shipping contracts, unpacking and sorting shipments, preparing shipping documents, inspection of incoming components, packing, and shipping. Cross-training throughout the other areas of the company will be expected.

We need a flexible person interested in all areas of what we do. As with any small company, everyone at TAC will find themselves doing a variety of other tasks. Examples include generating customer quotes, product production, marketing related activities, website improvements, and graphic design. And yes, it does mean you will be sweeping the floor at some point. Bottom line: If you have other skills or talents, let us know - we can probably put them to use.

Qualifications

An ideal applicant will have had prior experience with customer service, business documents and workflow (purchase orders, invoices, quotes), and shipping via UPS/FedEx. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and customer service skills are critical because the Customer Order Coordinator will have extensive interaction with customers, suppliers, and coworkers. Computer proficiency is a must. Some lifting/moving of boxes will be required (up to approx. 50lbs unassisted).

A college degree is preferred; but no specific education or employment background is required. We are looking for someone with flexibility, the ability to handle the unusual independently, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple priorities, and excellent follow up/follow through. While we do not have a formal training program, there will be considerable on-the-job learning. Keys to success are interest and aptitude to quickly learn about our processes and products.

Helpful but not required are QuickBooks proficiency, experience with preparing international shipments, familiarity with machine tools (mills, lathes, etc.), and foreign language exposure. Because of the technical nature of what we do, curiosity about manufacturing, mechanical, and technical things is desirable. If you like the show "How it's Made," you'll like working at our company.

About TAC Rockford

Founded in 1991, TAC Rockford/Transatlantic Connection offers innovative products for machine tools to an international customer base. Our customers appreciate our technical expertise and unique solutions that are typically not available from other industrial suppliers.

Most of our customers produce "metal products" for the automotive, aerospace, machine tool, and other diverse sectors. That said, the customer base ranges from guitar manufacturers to wind farms to municipal water treatment plants and everything in between - we never know who will contact us next. Customers range from one-person shops to major corporations such as Boeing, General Motors, GE, and Caterpillar. In addition, we supply products to the US government and military. Our international customer base is growing as well; with customers in many European and Asian countries.

TAC Rockford/Transatlantic Connection is a small, family-friendly company that is active in the community. We are located in a renovated 1930's era building in Rockford's downtown River District. We chose this location because it is a great place to work and to make a commitment to the success of Rockford's downtown community. Our commitment is ongoing: in 2013, we acquired a second building in downtown Rockford to expand our production and warehousing facilities.
