Versatile Office Assistant (Part Time)


TAC Rockford is looking for an intelligent, efficient, and detail-oriented person to join our company as a Versatile Office Assistant. This position is part time (25-35 hours/week).

We are looking for someone friendly and confident with an open-minded approach to taking on new tasks and a desire to learn new things. Curiosity and questions are strongly encouraged.

This position does not require any specific skills but candidates who have prior work experience in an office environment are preferred. Extensive on-the-job training in different aspects of our operations will be an ongoing part of the position.

What will the day for the Versatile Office Assistant look like? Most responsibilities will be in an office setting but you can expect tasks that won't keep you behind a desk as well. Some things we have in mind:
  • Answering phones (addressing basic issues and transferring calls to appropriate staff)
  • Logistics support (expediting orders, entering customer orders, preparing shipments)
  • Sales support (prepare basic quotes, customer follow-up activities, database updates)
  • Marketing support (preparing mailings, website updates)
  • Production support (inventory management, incoming inspection, miscellaneous production and assembly tasks)
  • General administrative support and other projects based on your skills (graphic design, web design, marketing, etc.)
A successful candidate will have:
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, telephone, and written)
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to learn and apply new information quickly
  • Time management and organization abilities
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to stay focused
Desirable qualifications (preferred but not required):
  • Familiarity with general office procedures, practices, and equipment
  • Familiarity with common business documents (purchase orders, quotes, invoices, etc.)
  • UPS, FedEx, etc. shipping experience
  • Prior background at a company with mechanical or technical products
  • Experience working with customers and suppliers outside the United States
  • Experience with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Associate or bachelor's degree strongly preferred
Employment Details
  • This position is part time, 25-35 hours per week (dependent on your schedule and company needs)
  • Hours are flexible but are typically within normal business hours (a regular schedule is required)
  • Compensation $15.50-$17.50 (based on skills and experience)

  • Health insurance is not provided
